Artifact of Deception and Doctorate In Death - Author: Jeffrey Hansson

With high hopes of proving his theory about the disappearance of a lost civilization, archaeologist Edwin “Eddie” Moncrief leads a group of college students into the beautiful but remote canyon lands of northeastern Utah’s Yellowknife Canyon. The camp is joined by medicine man Joseph Two Horse, who is acting as a consultant for the nearby Wataska Indian Tribe. After initial harmony, things quickly deteriorate as the field camp is beset with internal conflicts and dissension. What began as a wonderful experience in a breathtaking setting turns into the field school from hell. While Eddie and a loyal group of students try to hold the camp together, local looters are destroying one of the archaeological sites. Amidst acts of sabotage, tensions build as artifacts disappear and another site is destroyed. Things come to a head between Eddie and Two Horse in a midnight showdown after two of Eddie’s students go missing.

Doctorate in Death takes place in Las Cruces, a small city straddling the Chihuahuan desert and the Rio Grande Valley in southern New Mexico. Cultural anthropologist Dana Winfield receives a frantic phone call from Corey Watson, her top graduate student. There is something he desperately needs to tell her, but before he has a chance, he goes missing. Dana teams up with Travis Hitchcock, a handsome archaeologist and faculty friend, to solve the mystery of Corey’s disappearance. Starting with only the torn page of a doctoral thesis found at a gas station and Travis’ name scrawled on a piece of paper found in Corey’s apartment, Dana and Travis slowly begin to put the clues together. But circumstances conspire against them as Travis becomes the victim of a vicious accusation engineered by unknown forces, and Dana, eager for a promotion, is pressured by unwanted sexual advances. As one mystery is solved, another reaches a shocking climax in the rugged back country. Travis is called upon to use his archaeological skills in a life-and-death situation, and he rediscovers feelings long buried in the desert sand.

Psyche - Author: Derek Simmons

Rockland is a peaceful town on the coast of Maine where most people are up before the sun and the lobsters are plenty. Jesse, one of the local lobstermen, and Tom, the “white collar” type, have been best friends since they were kids. Then something happens that neither of them will soon forget. Strange things begin happening and suddenly Tom disappears, leaving behind only a note of his possible whereabouts, which sends Jesse on a journey north. On his way, Jesse runs into many mysterious characters. One could hold the key to everything. Aunt Mae, the owner of the Old Dog Inn, is a small, fragile-looking old woman who seems sweet and innocent, but is she? Is she there to help Jesse, or is dear old Aunt Mae trying to stop him from finding Tom and from uncovering the answers that could turn his life upside down?
